Its that time of year again, Mosquitoes, Midges and Holidays.

What to do about protecting yourself and your baby from insect pests, midges, mosquitoes and Horseflies? One August a few years ago we took a camping holiday in the Scottish Highlands, generally a great times and the pictures are lovely.

Eilean Donan Castle looks lovely mind the wee bity things.

Eilean Donan Castle looks lovely, mind the wee biting things.

However what the pictures don’t show are choking clouds of midges, mosquitoes and  Horseflies the size of fledgling Jumbo Jets.

During July and August 2007 as a result of a wet summer NHS Direct was deluged (not my pun, several newspaper article at the time, with the worst offender being the Independent) with inquiries about insect bites especially mosquitoes, mostly about discomfort and more serious allergic reactions, Bee stings being potentially the most serious of these. We can help we have a selection of pushchaircar seat andcot insect nets.

One comfort is that Malaria was eradicated in the UK a century ago. Not so abroad, if you are travelling to foreign parts some places have a high prevlance of Malaria, Denge fever, and other insect borne diseases, you can check about specific circumstances in countries you are visiting here or alternatively here.

Don’t  worry too much, enjoy your holidays.
